Courses and events in the region are arranged by various organisations from time to time. In particular, the University of Hull offers a number of geology courses - telephone the Centre for Lifelong Learning on 01482 465666 to request a copy of the current Short Courses in the Region prospectus.

Starting Wednesday 5 March 2008
Tutor: Richard Myerscough- This course will look at ancient fossil communities to analyse the ecology of animals and plants within ancient environments.
- Designed for students with no previous knowledge
- A reasonable level of fitness required to access difficult terrain
- Geology of Wold Churches
Starting Tuesday 15 April 2008
Tutor: Richard Myerscough- This course studies and records the fabric of Wold Churches and ecclesiastical sites along the A164.
- No prior knowledge necessary
- A level of fitness and mobility is required
- Building Stones of the North York Moors

Tutor: Richard Myerscough- This course explores the many building stones of the North York Moors. Includes identification of building stones and the geology of the North York Moors.
- Yorkshire Geology Month

Yorkshire Geology Month is an annual event that runs throughout the month of May. It brings together all the organisations in Yorkshire that run public events involving Earth Science - this could be anything from a lecture or a guided walk to a trip down a mine or a fossil roadshow. Starting Thursday 12 June 2008
Tutor: Richard Myerscough- This course is for walkers who would like to learn about how the local geology controls landscape features seen in the North York Moors and Yorkshire Wolds.
- Students will study the local geology and scenery of the Moors and Wolds along footpaths.
- No background experience required although a basic level of mobility and fitness is necessary.
